Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse / ED Holding Support – North Carolina

Start Date: October 19, 2026

Location: Wilmington, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Night shift, 36 or 48 hours per week; every other weekend required; target patient ratios 1:6 for MS/Tele or 1:4 for PCU level patients

Highlights:

• Specialized ED Holding Support position within Float Pool supporting emergency department inpatient holding area
• Contract lengths from 13 weeks up to February 27, 2027 (hard stop) to support facility through holiday season
• Diverse case mix including adult medical/surgical diagnoses, telemetry, and PCU-level patients awaiting inpatient beds
• Float opportunities across emergency department, medical/surgical, and telemetry units
• Epic documentation system with Pyxis medication management and 12-hour orientation
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, physical therapy, and rapid response teams

Requirements:

• Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Proficiency in MS/Tele, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring (unit and remote), and rapid response team utilization
• Experience with colostomy care, feeding tube management, renal failure, blood product administration, peripheral line care, phlebotomy, PICC line management, and anticoagulation protocols
• Competency with respiratory equipment including chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy management
• Strong IV skills and isolation precautions knowledge
• Preferred: NIHSS certification, IV insulin protocols, hemodialysis management, port access, central line blood draws, stroke care, neuro/spinal cord injury experience, orthopedic trauma, and wound care/wound vac
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Ability to float between multiple units and campuses as needed
• Willingness to work major holidays (2 of 3 required) and participate in storm/hurricane team assignments
• Complete pre-start modules (8-10 hours) using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge browser
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
