Office Engineer

Position Overview The Office Engineer (OE) supports project administration activities in the field, focusing on safety and quality control. The OE works with the project engineer, exercises judgment and discretion in making recommendations, implements policies and procedures, and handles a wide variety of office matters including trade partner/supplier management, contract changes (RFIs and change orders), financial account management, scheduling of deliveries, production trend reporting, and other administrative aspects outlined in the Book of 14. Position Qualifications A 4‑year degree in Civil, Structural, Architecture or Construction Management. Valid Driver’s License. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel templates), ProjectSight, Primavera, and AutoDesk Suite. Preferred Qualifications Past internships in the construction industry (preferred, not required). Materials management support to maintain project schedule and sequencing. Supervision of trade partner employees in the submittal and shop drawing process. Detailed reviews and approvals of submittals, shop drawings, and product data. Creation and processing of RFIs in a solutions‑oriented manner. Processing of subcontract bonds, insurance, pay applications, correspondence, change estimates, and potential change orders. Data gathering for monthly owner pay applications and margin analysis. Participation in jobsite safety meetings, weekly safety audits, etc. Facilitation of the quality control plan and participation in preparatory meetings, initial inspections, and follow‑up inspections. Support BIM and VDC coordination meetings in RFI creation and review of shop drawings from coordinated models. Physical Work Classification & Demands Moderate Work: Exerting up to 50 lbs occasionally, up to 25 lbs frequently, and up to 10 lbs constantly to move objects. Requires walking, kneeling, sitting, crouching, reaching, stooping, reading, speaking, pushing, pulling, lifting, standing, and typing; frequencies vary by workflow. Walking and occasional movement around office to access files and equipment. Constant computer use and interaction with office machinery (calculator, copy machine, phone, printer). Frequent communication with employees and external stakeholders regarding office administration. Regular computation, analysis, and conceptualization of mathematical calculations. Regular seated work in front of a computer screen. Reading written communications, blueprints, and field measurement verification. Climbing (ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps) and balancing to prevent falls. Stooping and bending at the waist. Visual acuity and vehicle operation as certified. Occasional exposure to high/low temperatures and noisy outdoor environments.
