PC Support Technician

Position Summary

The PC Support Technician provides telephone, remote, and in-person technical support for enterprise computers, laptops, peripherals, software, and related systems. The technician installs, configures, maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots equipment; assists users at all organizational levels; documents service activity; and coordinates with other support teams when escalation is required.

The position requires strong customer service and communication skills, sound technical judgment, effective prioritization, and the ability to manage a high volume of work independently in a fast-paced business environment.

Rate Range: $28/hour to $37/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Essential Responsibilities

• Install, configure, test, repair, replace, and perform preventive maintenance on computers, laptops, monitors, docking stations, mobile devices, printers, scanners, and related equipment.
• Perform hardware and software upgrades, equipment refreshes, system moves, workstation deployments, and related installations.
• Support operating systems, business applications, printing, connectivity, peripherals, and common workstation issues.
• Diagnose routine and moderately complex hardware and software problems using established procedures and technical resources.
• Determine whether issues require repair, replacement, reconfiguration, escalation, or coordination with another support group.
• Provide clear, professional guidance to users with varying levels of technical knowledge.
• Document reported issues, troubleshooting actions, resolutions, status updates, and follow-up requirements accurately and promptly.
• Prioritize and respond to service requests according to urgency, business impact, service levels, and management direction.
• Maintain equipment inventories, asset records, return documentation, and status information.
• Perform data backup, restoration, transfer, and basic recovery activities in accordance with company procedures.
• Package, transport, deliver, and retrieve computer equipment and software; operate a company vehicle when required.
• Identify potential network-related problems and refer them to the appropriate support group.
• Coordinate warranty repairs and vendor support as needed.
• Protect company information and equipment by following security, privacy, access-control, media-handling, and information-protection requirements.
• Maintain professional working relationships with users, support teams, management, and vendors.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Work Direction

The technician works under general direction and follows established technical procedures, service processes, safety practices, and documentation requirements. The technician is expected to follow current escalation process when an issue exceeds their training or expertise and completes work with minimal disruption to users and business operations.

Required Qualifications

An associate degree in Information Technology, computer science, or a related field and at least two years of enterprise PC support experience are required. A recognized certification, such as CompTIA A+, combined with equivalent relevant experience may substitute for the education requirement.

The technician must have:

• Broad knowledge of enterprise computers, laptops, operating systems, software applications, and peripherals.
• Working knowledge of hardware installation, configuration, repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of software installation, configuration, upgrades, backups, and basic recovery.
• The ability to diagnose technical problems and determine appropriate corrective action.
• The ability to recognize potential network issues and coordinate with network or other support teams.
• Experience supporting Windows 10 or newer and Microsoft Office 365 applications
• Experience supporting printers, scanners, docking stations, displays, mobile devices, and other workplace technologies.
• Experience with imaging, workstation deployment, software distribution, and equipment refreshes.
• Experience supporting Linux and Mac OS
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong customer-service skills and patience when assisting users.
• The ability to prioritize multiple requests, meet deadlines, and work independently.
• The ability to maintain accurate service records, reports, logs, and inventory documentation.
• The ability to safely lift, move, package, and install equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• A valid California driver’s license.
• The ability to work extended hours, occasional overtime, or nonstandard schedules when authorized and required by business needs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a Microsoft enterprise environment.
• Experience using ServiceNow ticket-management system.
• Experience maintaining Dell desktop and laptop hardware.
• CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent training and experience.
• Experience coordinating warranty repairs and vendor support.
• Experience in engineering, manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or other controlled business environment.

Work Environment and Compliance

Work may occur in offices, equipment rooms, laboratories, production areas, warehouses, hangars, and other company facilities. Duties may involve extended computer use, walking between work areas, working under desks, and handling or transporting equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Work outside normal business hours may be required for installations, maintenance, outages, equipment moves, or operational support.

The technician must comply with applicable laws, regulations, contractual requirements, company policies, safety practices, and information-security requirements. The technician is expected to maintain professional conduct, protect company assets and information, accurately document work, and promptly report issues that may affect business operations.
