Job Description
Registered Nurse / Neuro Med-Surg Tele

A challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Registered Nurse specializing in Neuro Med-Surg Telemetry. This role requires expertise in caring for patients with neurological conditions, including but not limited to stroke, epilepsy, and postoperative neurosurgery.

Key Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care for a caseload of 5 patients per nurse.
Monitor and manage patients' telemetry and vital signs.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Float to other Med-Surg and Med-Surg/Telemetry units as needed while maintaining professional integrity.
Facilitate educational discussions with patients and families regarding care plans and procedures.

Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of Med-Surg and Telemetry experience.
Neurology experience is required.
Experience in a teaching hospital and with Level I or Level II trauma cases is preferred.
ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications are mandatory.
Completion of a Basic EKG assessment through Prophecy Relias is required prior to orientation.
Maryland or compact RN license must be submitted with the application.
CVA/acute stroke care and pre/post-neurosurgery experience are essential.
Experience with spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, feeding-tube care, and renal failure is required.
Wound care, surgical drain management, oxygen administration, and isolation/PPE experience are mandatory.

Shift Details

13-hour night shifts: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
Every other weekend and holiday are required.
No block schedule accommodations are available.

Time Off Policy

14 days or less of requested time off (RTO) will be automatically approved.
All winter and summer holidays are required, with no RTO approved during these times.
No RTO is permitted on hard-to-fill days such as Easter, Mother's Day, and Father's Day.

Additional Requirements

An annual completion of 8 hours of stroke-related continuing education is required.
4 hours of trauma-related continuing education is required annually.
The Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN) certification is preferred.
Knowledge of and experience with continuous bedside EEG monitoring, telemetry, and bladder scanning is a plus.
