The Lead Welder/Fitter is an individual contributor and people leader that requires little or no supervisory assistance and possesses high-level knowledge in welding, fabrication technology and related applications. Teaching/leading others and transferring knowledge within assigned teams is a critical component of this position. Additionally, the Lead Welder/Fitter will lead and engage RVII to achieve all assigned manufacturing goals: Safety (no one gets hurt), Quality (free of defect), On-Time Delivery (meet customer delivery dates), Budget (at or below estimated hours) and People (develop & retain "hungry, humble and smart" leaders).Skills/QualificationsDemonstrated safety awareness and training in a construction/manufacturing environmentSafe operation of all welding and fabrication equipmentRead measuring devices and perform mathematical calculationsFollow verbal and written directions such as work orders or drawingsDaily use of grinders, torches, plasma cutters, overhead cranes, rigging and forkliftsPerform x-ray quality welds that are code/customer compliantRead, interpret, and communicate WPS, QC plans, work instructions, blueprints, ASME code and AWS weld symbologyAccurately layout and fit products as directed by drawing or process/router sheetCreate fixtures to safely hold parts while being welded, prepped or cutPerform basic NDE procedures (LPT and VT) as neededUnderstand tolerances and general quality control principles and applicationsKnowledge of welding principles applications and methods including but not limited to: SAW, FCAW, GMAW, and GTAW5+ years of welding/fitting experience preferably in ASME Code pressure vesselsWelding with multiple processes in multiple positions as requiredProvide clear communication of who is doing what by whenEvaluation and clear communication of risks, hazards, lessons learned and acceptance criteriaVerify team competence in technical practices and executionProvide viable solutions and technical support to manufacturing staff and internal customersAssist in interviewing/testing new candidates and training current employees as neededSupport Manufacturing Coordinators and Engineering staff as neededFacilitate the qualification of new PQR and WPQLead the selection and distribution of filler metals and welding consumablesEducational/Physical RequirementsMust be able to complete and pass a physical assessmentMust be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without accommodationFormal training in Welding Technology or 5+ years of practical welding & fabrication experienceMust be able to lift at least 50lbs and stand or sit for extended periods in an office and/or industrial environmentR-V Industries, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
