Sommelier

Dean’s is a British Pub-inspired concept, the latest project from Chef Jess Shadbolt and Annie Shi, the duo behind beloved New York restaurants Jupiter and King. 

Dean’s is inspired by the British pub and brings that spirit to our neighborhood here in Soho. It is influenced by the coastline of the UK while also celebrating the heritage, uncomplicated and seasonal cooking that Annie and Jess have championed at King, Jupiter and Lei - this time, through a British lens. Dean’s is warm, relaxed and welcoming; a place where you can stop by and gather for a pint at the bar or stay longer for a leisurely dinner in the dining room.

What you’ll do: 

• As a sommelier, you’ll rely on your hospitality experience and deep knowledge of food and wine to guide guests through a great experience at Dean's
• This is a leadership position —the sommelier team will be central to developing Dean's culture of education. You’ll design and lead staff training and tastings, and help build out tools for ongoing education. 
• Outside of service, you’ll ensure storage rooms and wine coolers are kept neat, organized, and at appropriate temperatures.
• Check deliveries to ensure correct quantity, wine types and vintages are delivered, and update inventory systems as necessary.
• Ensure that glassware and necessary equipment for wine is always within the par levels and anticipate lead times for further ordering
• Maintain proper inventory levels of wine, other beverages and supplies
• Complete additional tasks as requested by the team and management

Who you are: 

• You are passionate about the hospitality industry and thrive in fast-paced environments 
• You have 2-5+ years of experience as a Sommelier
• You are a team player with clear communication and follow through 
• You have attention to detail and initiative to problem solve as needed 
• You are able to stand, walk, and be on your feet for extended periods of time 
• You are able to communicate in English, through written and verbal communications
• You are able to lift 30+ pounds 
• You are available on nights, weekends and holidays, as needed

Position is $15.00-$17.00/hour.
