Job Title: Clinical Manager Reports To: Clinical Director / Executive Director Department: Clinical Location: On-site, Dumfries and Triangle, VA Compensation: The pay range for this position is $105,000 - $110,000 annually, set in good faith based on the responsibilities of the role, qualifications, and market conditions. Job Summary The Clinical Manager supports the oversight and coordination of clinical operations within the ASAM-designated treatment facility across all levels of care, including residential and outpatient services as applicable. This role assists with management of clinical staff, supports quality assurance and compliance efforts, and helps ensure clients receive high-quality, ethical, and evidence-based treatment services. The Clinical Manager works closely with the Clinical Director to support staff development, operational efficiency, clinical documentation standards, and continuity of care. Key Responsibilities Assists in overseeing day-to-day clinical operations across all ASAM levels of care within the facility Provides support, guidance, and oversight to clinical staff and associate-level clinicians under direction of the Clinical Director Assists with ensuring clinical documentation meets ASAM criteria, medical necessity standards, payer requirements, DBHDS regulations, and CARF standards Supports onboarding, training, mentorship, and performance management of clinical staff Conducts chart reviews, documentation audits, and quality assurance activities to ensure compliance and clinical excellence Assists with treatment planning, case staffing, discharge planning, crisis intervention, and care coordination as needed Collaborates with medical, nursing, admissions, utilization review, operations, and executive teams to support client care and program operations Helps monitor productivity, staffing needs, scheduling, and workflow efficiency within the clinical department Assists with preparation for audits, accreditation reviews, licensing inspections, and corrective action implementation Maintains awareness of changes in behavioral health regulations, documentation standards, and evidence-based treatment practices Minimum Qualifications Education / Credentials Master’s degree in Social Work , Counseling, Psychology, or related behavioral health field required Active Virginia behavioral health license required (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, Resident, Supervisee, or equivalent as approved by organization needs) Ability to supervisor associate level licensure CPR/First Aid certification preferred Experience Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in behavioral health and/or substance use disorder treatment required Experience working within ASAM levels of care, including residential and outpatient treatment settings preferred Previous leadership, supervisory, or program coordination experience preferred Experience with Medicaid-funded services, utilization review processes, and clinical documentation standards preferred Knowledge / Skills Knowledge of ASAM criteria, substance use disorder treatment, co-occurring disorders, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based practices Understanding of DBHDS regulations, CARF standards, and documentation requirements preferred Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to effectively support, coach, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced treatment environment Proficiency with electronic health records and clinical documentation systems Ability to maintain professionalism, ethical standards, and confidentiality at all times Working Conditions Direct care and administrative support role Full-time on-site position with flexibility based on operational needs May require occasional evening, weekend, or on-call responsibilities Work is performed in a behavioral healthcare treatment environment with exposure to individuals experiencing mental health and substance use disorders Why This Role Matters The Clinical Manager plays an important role in supporting the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of clinical services throughout the treatment continuum.
