A Brief Overview The advanced practice provider (APP) delivers patient‑centered, specialized, evidence‑based care across the continuum through an interprofessional approach to treatment, research, education, and advocacy. APPs are board‑certified providers who assume responsibility for health stabilization, promotion, and maintenance of acute and chronic illness or injury. This role supports the organization’s mission by delivering compassionate and safe care within the scope of practice defined by Nebraska state statutes, administrative code, and the organization’s bylaws. The APP commits to clinical excellence, respect, innovation, and academic inquiry through collaborative practice with all team members. Essential Functions Provide safe, comprehensive, and compassionate clinical care; assess patients, synthesize data, order diagnostic tests and therapeutic treatments, and evaluate clinical outcomes. Seek and integrate interprofessional perspectives in developing and implementing the plan of care. Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; prescribe medications and complex medical regimens while monitoring desired and adverse outcomes for infants/children with high‑risk, complex acute, critical, or chronic conditions. Apply evidence‑based medicine for neonatal/pediatric populations and continually evaluate the relationships among access, cost, quality, safety, and sustainability. Lead the establishment and monitoring of standards of practice and improve patient care through knowledge sharing, team leadership, and program development. Consider child development, family readiness, and resources when translating health information, education, and support. Demonstrate understanding of internal and external regulations related to APP practice, licensure, certification, and billing compliance. Maintain accurate logs of credentialed procedures performed and demonstrate competency when performing specialty skills. Advocate for children and families across the health‑care continuum to ensure the best patient/family experience possible. Coordinate care per CMS and/or program guidelines and complete required program education per CMS guidelines. Attend work regularly. Education Qualifications Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in the Physician Assistant program (Required). Experience Qualifications Previous clinical experience in pediatrics (Preferred). Skills and Abilities Satisfy all relevant criteria and qualifications outlined in the Medical Staff Policy for Allied Health Professionals; must be credentialed. Maintain practice agreements within the scope of specialty practice. Understand billing regulations and documentation requirements, including CPT coding regulations. Know the physical, mental, developmental, emotional, and social needs of patients from newborn to adolescence. Maintain current knowledge and skills through reading journals, networking, and attending conferences or seminars. Perform varied duties under stressful conditions without loss of efficiency or composure, prioritizing tasks effectively. Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with multiple disciplines. Be self‑directed with minimal supervision and detail oriented. Licenses and Certifications PA – Physician Assistant (Upon Hire Required) PA‑C – Physician Assistant Certified (Upon Hire Required) BLS – Basic Life Support (Upon Hire Required) PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support (within 180 days Required) ACLS – Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (within 180 days Required, only if working in Cardiology or Complex Care) DEA License (within 30 days Required) NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation (Lincoln location only, within 180 days Required) Satisfy criteria for the Medical Staff Policy on Allied Health Professionals; required to be credentialed.
