About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Stepdown Neuro Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in a large, urban hospital required License: Current state nursing license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI, NIHSS Must-Have: EPIC charting experience required Drips management experience required Experience in Mixed Acuity unit Description: This is a 48-bed unit caring for medical surgical patients specializing in Client and Neurosurgery. The specialized patient population includes strokes, aneurysms, seizures, spinal fusions, brain and spinal cord tumors, and other neurological conditions. RNs must be prepared to care for up to five Med Surg patients. Day ratios are typically 1:5 and may vary based on staffing. Stepdown ratios are generally 1:3-4 for both days and nights. Travelers are expected to float to meet the staffing needs of the facility. Nights may occasionally have a higher patient ratio based on current conditions. Floating may occur within scope to meet facility needs. Weekends require working 4 out of 8 possible shifts within a 4-week period, including Saturdays and Sundays. RTO requests must be submitted with the application, with a limit of two weeks. Travelers are required to work 2 out of 3 major holidays during their contract. This is a 100% nicotine-free facility. RNs wear designated scrubs with the facility's logo. Additional support includes care techs, transport teams, and other interdisciplinary staff. Travelers should be prepared for a fast-paced environment with a focus on neurological care. Candidates should possess skills necessary for managing drips, cardiac telemetry, and post-operative care. Personal protective equipment and isolation precautions must be adhered to at all times.
