About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Stepdown, PCU, Med Surg, Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, ONS/ONCC Must-Have: - Chemotherapy certification required - Open book exam on skills learned during orientation with a minimum passing score of 90% Description: This position requires working in a mixed unit with a focus on oncology and trauma patients. The nurse will care for adults, managing diagnoses that commonly include oncology-related conditions. Patient ratios on this unit are 1:4 for PCU cases and 1:5 for Med Surgical cases, with nightly ratios being 1 RN to 5-6 patients. BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory for this role. Occasional titration of drips, including insulin and cardizem, may be required. Experience with commonly used medications such as chemotherapy, heparin, and protonix is essential. The unit utilizes Epic for electronic medical records. The preferred candidate should be capable of operating ventilators and performing hemodynamic monitoring. Teamwork and a genuine desire to care for patients are vital qualities for success in this role. All staff must respect the diverse cultural and religious backgrounds of patients. Candidates should be prepared for hourly rounding to enhance patient experience. Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care departments. Cancellation policy allows for cancellation of a limited number of shifts during the contract.
