Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: 2 years in large, urban hospital License: Active Registered Nurse license required Certifications: BLS, CPI Must-Have: - EPIC charting experience - Prior experience with drips - Ability to float within facility needs Description: This is a 45-bed medical/surgical unit providing care to trauma patients. The focus will be on the acute and chronic needs of patients who are hemodynamically and medically stable. This is a fast-paced specialty unit. Travelers will be the first to float. RNs must be prepared to float frequently to meet staffing needs. Patient-to-nurse ratios are 1:5 days and 1:6 nights. Night ratios may reach 1:7 depending on staffing. BLS certification is required. Two years of prior experience is required. Drip experience is required on all floors. First-time travelers are not accepted unless they have two years of experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center. Travelers will float within their scope to meet facility needs. Floating may include multiple units. Interdisciplinary support includes care teams with techs, transport teams, and paramedics. The facility is 100% nicotine-free. Weekend shifts require four weekend shifts out of eight possible in a four-week period. RTO restrictions allow up to two weeks and must be submitted with the application. Travelers are required to work two out of three major holidays. Local candidates are not accepted. Pending licenses are accepted, but must be in hand at the time of submission. Travelers must wear designated scrubs specific to the facility. This role requires proficiency in a variety of skills related to trauma patient care and management. Additional skills may include administration of blood products, central line care, management of chest tubes, and interpretation of dysrhythmias. The unit aims to provide high-quality care to a vulnerable patient population with complex needs. This position requires flexibility and adaptability to meet the demands of the unit.
