Accounts Payable Clerk – San Leandro, CA Peterson Cat is seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk who will perform clerical accounting functions with some independent decision making, typically under the guidance of senior accounting personnel. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Match approved purchase orders with vendor billings/invoices; prepare invoices for payment processing in accordance with defined coding instructions. Input invoices into the PO system and monitor special handling invoices, discounts, and special terms through the PO system. Compile and post transactions into the A/P system to designated accounts. Assist with daily and weekly check runs. Maintain related Accounts Payable files (hard copy and electronic) as needed. Place and respond to internal and external phone calls and emails regarding vendor activity; provide assistance to accounting and operations personnel to resolve Accounts Payable questions or problems. Perform duties assigned by the Senior Accountants of Peterson’s operating companies; each company may require different entry/handling methods. Identify and reconcile customer account discrepancies. Maintain and update procedures for the assigned accounting function. Travel to branch locations, events, training meetings, conferences, etc. as business needs arise. Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance. QUALIFICATIONS Associate’s Degree from an accredited college in Accounting, or equivalent certification; and a minimum of one year of directly related experience in accounting, preferably in a heavy industrial environment; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Pay range: $26.45 – $30.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and education. Total compensation package available in addition to base salary.
