The reporting location for this position will be at El Capitan State Beach. This position will work under the direction of the Park Maintenance Supervisor and the leadership of permanent maintenance staff.

The Senior Maintenance Aide is responsible for leading the Maintenance Aides in performing unskilled manual labor. The tasks include, but are not limited to, housekeeping and minor maintenance repair of state-owned grounds and structures. They may assist permanent park personnel with more technical, difficult tasks and work as part of a crew on labor intensive projects. The essential job functions of this position include maintenance services, visitor contact, resource protection and lead work.

The incumbent's work schedule will be from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm five days per week. This is a uniformed position, and the successful candidates will be required to purchase and wear a State Parks uniform. This position can work 189 days in a 12 consecutive month period or a maximum of 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months per California Code of Regulation 265.1 . This position is designated as not telework eligible.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

Possession of a Class C valid driver's license and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.)
