Job Summary :

The registration and scheduling clerk is responsible for efficient, friendly admission of patients to the ambulatory surgery center. Efficiency is a byproduct of focused attention to the surgery schedule before the day of surgery to ensure information is present and correct which then guides the team in rendering safe and effective care. This job includes the efficacy in patient financial collections and reporting. The responsibility lies on this role to monitor traffic patterns and attend to the needs of patients and their significant others while they wait in the waiting area. This position also includes the necessary skills to support the “Medical Record” function, and any other competencies accomplished. The quality improvement function includes physician post op call sheet data collection and documentation in the OR patient medical record.

We offer state-of-the-art technology with special services ranging from primary eye care to world-class laser surgery. Our physicians were the first to offer LASIK laser vision correction in East Texas and have performed tens of thousands of procedures since its inception. Heaton Eye offers a wide range of premium lenses including Symfony Extended Depth of Focus lenses, PanOptix® lenses, and Vivity® lenses to offer freedom from glasses and contacts after cataract surgery. Seeking an Exceptional Registration/Scheduling Clerk| Heaton Eye Associates/Heaton Laser and Surgery Center | Full-Time | Monday-Thursday

Experience:

One to two years of health care experience. One year of registration, and medical record/health information job duties. Experience with QAPI programs.

Certification/Licensure:

None Required

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Job Duties Include:

• Generate the ambulatory surgery schedule.

• Distribute day of surgery schedule.

• Use of surgery schedule to guide registration activity.

• Guide patient in completing necessary forms prior to their pre operative care.

• Coding and data entry of encounters [procedure codes, G codes, etc.] as applicable

• Audit work to assure accuracy in operative report site, option, and document completion

• Work interdependently with others to obtain accurate medical record data and documents.

• Assure medical record chart order according to policy and procedure

• Maintain security of all records

• Assist in arranging for timely completion of medical record [signatures, etc.]

• Maintain patient schedule logs.

• Participate in post op calls to patients as needed

• Submit QAPI data regarding post op patient communication by physician

Qualifications:

• Proficient in reading and writing the English language.

• Proficient in medical terminology.

• Proficient in math calculations, analysis skills, and basic accounting.

• Proficient in computer, electronic health record, and printer technology.

• Proficient in computer programs: MS Word, Excel, electronic patient management system

• Self-motivated independent in job responsibility, ability to critically think and process

information.

• Physical presentation of cheerfulness, neat, professional, well-groomed appearance.
