Responsibilities
- Interpret between English and the applicable language.
- Accurately interpret between English and the target language.
- Maintain professionalism through attitude and interpreting services.
- Follow the Interpreter Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
Qualifications
- Proficient in English and the applicable languages in both written and spoken forms.
- Proficient computer skills, including email, scheduling systems, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.
- Advanced interpretation and communication skills.
- Reliable transportation for onsite appointments, and reliable phone, internet connection, and a quiet work environment for virtual appointments.
- Familiarity with interpreting modes—simultaneous or consecutive, VRI, OPI, OSI.
- Certified in interpreting or related field, BA in interpretation, translation, or related field (preferred).
- At least 1-2 years experience interpreting in a professional setting.
Position Details
- Type: 1099 Independent Contract
- Hours – By appointment only; interpreters accept or decline appointments and create their own schedule.
- Pay schedule: once a month.
