Assessment

Conduct comprehensive assessments and reassessments across all age groups, identifying physical, psychosocial, cultural, religious, safety, infection control, and environmental factors relevant to patient education. Utilize data from patients, families, and healthcare providers to promote health maintenance, restoration, and education. Apply advanced assessment skills tailored to unit-specific needs and document findings according to established protocols.

Planning

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized teaching plans and discharge or transfer follow-up strategies. Integrate pharmacological, dietary, and therapy interventions to optimize patient outcomes. Adapt teaching methods based on patient and family feedback and evolving clinical conditions.

Implementation

Adhere to OSHA regulations and safety protocols, including hazardous waste management and emergency procedures. Document patient and family education thoroughly using multidisciplinary forms and narrative notes. Communicate effectively with physicians regarding patient status, education responses, and any significant changes. Serve as a liaison for patient education and contribute to community outreach programs as needed.

Education and Experience

Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is required, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Proficiency with computer systems is essential.

Licensure and Certifications

Must hold an active Registered Nurse license from the appropriate state board. Area-specific certifications such as ACLS, BLS, PALS, or specialty certifications should be obtained and maintained as required.

This position offers part-time day shifts with approximately 16 hours bi-weekly, serving a regional community in the Midwest United States.
