We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join a manufacturing organization in Houston, Texas in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This role is ideal for an accounting specialist who can balance general ledger work, payroll processing, accounts receivable support, and inventory-related activities in a fast-paced environment. The position will partner closely with accounting, HR, and operations to maintain accurate financial records, support closing activities, and help drive reliable reporting across the business.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee general ledger maintenance by reviewing account activity, reconciling balances, and ensuring financial records remain accurate and complete.
• Prepare and record journal entries for routine operations, accruals, and other accounting adjustments in accordance with established timelines.
• Contribute to month-end and year-end close by completing reconciliations, supporting financial reviews, and assisting with inventory count activities.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and bank accounts, research variances, and resolve outstanding issues in a timely manner.
• Administer billing and invoicing activities, monitor customer accounts, and help support prompt collections through billing platforms and follow-up actions.
• Apply incoming payments and customer prepayments accurately while maintaining alignment between cash activity and the accounts receivable subledger.
• Process weekly, biweekly, and semi-monthly payroll cycles with a high degree of accuracy, including payroll tax and benefits-related considerations.
• Partner with HR to update employee payroll information, maintain payroll records, and support compliance with applicable wage and tax regulations.
• Assist with inventory and cost accounting by tracking production-related transactions, reviewing inventory movement, and investigating cost variances with operations.
• Take ownership of assigned deliverables, develop practical solutions to accounting issues, and provide additional support requested by the Accounting Manager.• 5+ years of accounting experience, including staff accountant responsibilities in a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience with general ledger reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close activities.
• Background in payroll processing, including weekly, biweekly, and semi-monthly payrolls, payroll taxes, and benefits-related payroll administration.
• Experience supporting accounts receivable functions such as cash application, payment verification, billing, and customer prepayment reconciliation.
• Working knowledge of inventory accounting and cost accounting concepts within a production or manufacturing setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for analysis, reconciliations, and financial reporting tasks.
• Experience using Syteline ERP / SyteLine or a similar ERP system.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate effectively with accounting, HR, and operations teams.
