Staff Accountant

Staff AccountantWe are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our client's accounting team in Downtown Houston. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with a few years of experience who is looking to continue developing their skills in a collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform general ledger account reconciliations and maintain accurate financial recordsPrepare and post journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end closeAssist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as neededReconcile bank accounts and other balance sheet accountsReview financial transactions for accuracy and proper codingAssist with preparation of financial statements and internal accounting reportsResearch and resolve discrepancies and variancesMaintain supporting schedules and accounting documentationAssist with accruals, prepaid expenses, and fixed asset accountingSupport the accounting team with audit requests and financial analysisEnsure accounting records are maintained in accordance with company policies and accounting standardsPerform other accounting duties and special projects as assignedQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field required2-4 years of accounting experience preferredStrong understanding of general accounting principlesExperience with general ledger accounting and account reconciliationsProficiency in Microsoft ExcelStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsExcellent analytical and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a teamStrong written and verbal communication skills
