NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the National Park Service (NPS). These experienced professionals provide administrative expertise, facilities management, natural and cultural resource planning, and a broad array of other professional skills that support the National Park Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP).

Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an ?at-will? relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee.

PLEASE NOTE: An ?Enrollee? is not a federal employee, nor an employee of NEW Solutions. An ?Enrollee? is a participant in a grant program established through a Cooperative Agreement funded by the agency and administered by NEW Solutions.

Duration:

This position is funded for up to 200 total hours.

This part-time position serves as the Management and Program Analyst for the National Park Service Affiliated Areas Program based in the Alaska Regional Office. The work performed assists NPS staff by serving as an analyst to internal programs and operations to provide guidance to improving organizational effectiveness and efficiency for the Aleutian World War II National Historic Area (ALEU).

Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 year(s) of experience in Anthropology of Alaska, Aleutian History, and World War II History OR BA/BS Degree in Anthropology and/or History with minimum additional experience of 5 year(s) in Anthropology of Alaska, Aleutian History, and World War II History

• Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams, MS Outlook, MS SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat

Duties:

This part-time position serves as the Management and Program Analyst for the National Park Service Affiliated Areas Program based in the Alaska Regional Office. The work performed assists NPS staff by serving as an analyst to internal programs and operations to provide guidance to improving organizational effectiveness and efficiency for the Aleutian World War II National Historic Area (ALEU).

• Analyzing and evaluating the efficiency of internal administrative operations, organizations, and/or management activities occurring within the ALEU history and AFAR program. 30%
• Analyze and evaluate management policies, procedures, guidelines, and processes. Recommend changes that meet agency and bureau initiatives and strategic objectives, and ensure compliance with current laws, regulations, and policies. 20%
• Prepares detailed action plans and schedules for long- and short-range project accomplishments and ensures that project plans are consistent with management goals and objectives. 20%
• Analyzes existing and new regulations, and/or program requirements to determine impacts on the ALEU and AFAR program operations. Identifies resource needs (e.g. staffing, facilities, agreements, and projects) to support ALEU and the AFAR program. 10%
• Advises management on a variety of opportunities and options to increase overall programmatic effectiveness. 10%
• Assisting with planning, coordinating, and developing budget proposals for various ALEU projects or AFAR program needs. 10%

• Federal Information Systems Security Awareness + Privacy & Records Management Training
• Overnight travel: One or two possible overnights of 2-5 days.
• Air travel anticipated: One or two trips are possible for meetings with affiliated staff.
