The Senior Revenue Accountant for the Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS) (which includes the MSHS and the Faculty Practice Plan) is responsible for the integrity and accuracy of revenue recognition and A/R -related financial reporting and will partner closely with operations, billing, and financial planning and analysis to ensure GAAP compliant revenue processes and timely identification of risks and opportunities in revenue trends. This position will report to the Senior Director of Revenue. This role will ensure the accurate recording, recognition, and reporting of hospital revenue, which includes focusing on the healthcare revenue cycle, patient billing, and maintaining compliance with U.S. GAAP and ASC 606 standards. Key responsibilities include preparing financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, collaborating with billing and operations teams to identify revenue risks and opportunities, assisting with audits, and supporting month-end close processes. Experienced accounting professional with a background in Big 4 audit engagements , specializing in clients within the Tri-State Area . Demonstrates strong expertise in healthcare finance , particularly in accounts receivable valuation and realization , as well as revenue recognition in a hospital. Proven ability to analyze revenue matrices , manage A/R processes , and contribute to accurate and timely financial reporting . Brings a deep understanding of healthcare industry standards and compliance requirements, ensuring financial integrity and operational efficiency. Education/Skills/Experience Required Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. Master’s degree preferred. 3+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience. Experience with ASC 606 Revenue Recognition. CPA and recent Big Four experience. Advanced MS Excel skills and experience Prior experience with revenue cycle, financial reporting, revenue recognition, analytics, and inferential statistics. Diverse experience of healthcare databases and data sources, preferably in a large academic healthcare setting.
