Position Summary

Compass Group is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Remote Payroll Specialist to support payroll administration for employees working across multiple U.S. states. This role focuses on payroll processing, employee payment inquiries, deduction management, and the review of payroll records to maintain accurate and timely payments.

The ideal candidate will have prior multi-state payroll experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage sensitive information while working independently in a remote setting.

Primary Responsibilities

• Prepare and review biweekly payroll transactions to help ensure employees are paid accurately and on schedule.
• Maintain payroll calendars, processing records, and supporting documentation.
• Assist employees with questions about paychecks, deductions, payment corrections, and payroll procedures.
• Monitor payroll support requests and provide timely assistance through phone and email.
• Update benefit deductions and process approved changes affecting employee compensation.
• Review and coordinate short-term disability payment adjustments and related payroll documentation.
• Investigate payment discrepancies and manage requests for canceled or replacement checks.
• Record and maintain wage garnishments, court-ordered deductions, and other withholding instructions.
• Coordinate with relevant agencies and legal representatives to address garnishment inquiries and documentation requests.
• Prepare wage and employment verification responses in accordance with applicable procedures.
• Review garnishment transactions, research discrepancies, and coordinate refunds when appropriate.
• Work with accounting and general ledger teams to investigate payroll variances and support account reconciliation.
• Validate payroll reports and system outputs to identify potential errors before payroll is finalized.
• Participate in payroll system updates, testing activities, implementation projects, and team training.
• Identify opportunities to streamline payroll workflows and improve service delivery.
• Follow established procedures for safeguarding confidential employee and payroll information.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two or more years of experience processing payroll for employees in multiple U.S. states.
• Working knowledge of payroll deductions, garnishments, withholding orders, and payroll adjustments.
• Strong computer skills, including accurate data entry and the use of spreadsheets and payroll systems.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to organize competing priorities and meet payroll deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with colleagues in a remote environment.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends when business demands require additional support.

Compensation and Work Schedule

• Compensation: $1,200–$1,500, with the applicable pay period to be confirmed.
• Position Type: Full-time.
• Work Setting: Remote, with duties performed from home.
• Standard Schedule: Monday through Friday.
• Additional Hours: Occasional overtime may be necessary during payroll cycles, system updates, or other operational requirements.
