About the Role

The Company is seeking an Executive Director to lead its national organization, which is dedicated to advocacy for veterans. The successful candidate will be responsible for shaping the legal and legislative strategy that impacts the treatment of disabled veterans, survivors, family members, and caregivers under federal law. This role involves conducting original research, preparing reports, and serving as the primary liaison with various entities, including Congress, the VA, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. The Executive Director will also be tasked with interpreting laws and regulations, drafting essential legal documents, and guiding the organization's staff, research, and training to advance the field of veterans' advocacy. The ideal candidate for the Executive Director position at the company will have extensive knowledge of issues affecting the veteran community, strong legal research and writing skills, and the ability to navigate a fast-changing regulatory and legislative environment with sound judgment. A minimum of 3 years of management experience and a Master's degree are required, along with a demonstrated apolitical and nonpartisan orientation. The role demands a leader with strong communication skills, both written and verbal, who can move confidently between different professional settings and is trusted across a broad and diverse membership. The Executive Director will also be responsible for building and leading the organization's administrative team, overseeing all aspects of staff management, and serving as a trusted advisor to the President and Board of Directors.
