Responsibilities
- Provide expert assessment, treatment, consultation, planning and leadership oversight for lactation management in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Form interdisciplinary plans of care for patients with advanced lactation support needs and communicate goals to the care team.
- Deliver outpatient prenatal and postpartum lactation education, consultations, and teaching to patients and families.
- Coordinate lactation-related care with multidisciplinary teams and ensure accurate documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Engage with inpatient lactation programs and participate in ongoing lactation education initiatives to support breastfeeding success.
- Align care with regulatory and licensing requirements; monitor and update care plans as patient needs evolve.

Requirements
- Active Massachusetts licensure (RN, OT, PT, SLP or Pharmacist) and Massachusetts Temporary Nursing Service Agency License (Nursing Pool) required; license must be uploaded with traveler profile.
- Certification: International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) with at least 1 year of lactation-specific experience; minimum 2,500 hours as a lactation consultant; equivalent certifications are not accepted.
- Inpatient lactation program experience and outpatient prenatal/postpartum lactation education, consultations, and teaching required.
- Meditech Expanse experience strongly preferred.
- American Heart Association BLS certification required; current documentation in profile.
- Travelers must have their own vehicle and reside outside a 50-mile radius of the assignment location.
- Documentation required at profile upload: Supervisory signed reference (within past two years), Board Certification, BLS, and all relevant lactation credentials.
- Perm address must be included at profile upload; RTO requests up to 5 days only, noted at submission; no RTO approvals after offer.
- Profile submissions must include license type and MA nursing pool license; licensure and certifications must be current and verifiable before consideration.
