Key Responsibilities

• Assist neurosurgeons and other providers with patient examinations, clinical assessments, and in-office procedures.
• Obtain and accurately document vital signs, medical histories, medications, symptoms, and chief complaints in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures while ensuring exam and procedure rooms are clean, organized, stocked, and properly sanitized.
• Coordinate patient appointments, referrals, diagnostic testing, prior authorizations, and insurance verification to support timely patient care.
• Provide patients with clear education regarding treatment plans, medications, pre-operative and post-operative instructions, and follow-up care.
• Collect and process laboratory specimens as ordered by providers and in accordance with established clinical procedures.
• Assist with day-to-day administrative responsibilities, including answering phones, managing medical records, scheduling follow-ups, and coordinating communication between patients, providers, and specialty offices.
• Serve as a professional and compassionate point of contact for patients, helping them navigate their care and addressing questions or concerns appropriately.
• Maintain strict patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance while following infection control, safety, and clinical practice standards.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, medical assistants, and administrative staff to promote efficient patient flow and deliver high-quality care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation while ensuring all clinical and administrative tasks are completed according to practice protocols.
• Contribute to a positive, professional, and patient-centered environment within a fast-paced neurosurgical practice.

Requirements:

• Medical Assistant Certification
• Associates preferred, High School required
