Watts & Associates is working discreetly with a highly regarded Am Law 200 ranked national law firm seeking a 4th to 6th year Intellectual Property Patent Associate to join its New York, New York office. This is a fully transactional patent prosecution role focused on drafting and prosecuting US and international patent applications, advising on patentability, and supporting longer term portfolio strategy for innovative clients. The firm offers a national platform with a collaborative, team oriented culture and a strong emphasis on practical problem solving and client service. The position is based in the New York office with in office presence five days per week. The Opportunity You will prepare and prosecute US provisional and utility applications and international filings, develop patentability and related IP opinions, and partner with attorneys and clients to plan and maintain patent portfolios. The work is well suited to an associate who enjoys translating complex mechanical technologies into clear, commercially useful patent protection.
