Job Description:

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining the safe and efficient operation of a combined-cycle power generation facility by performing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSGs, rotating equipment, pumps, valves, piping systems, compressors, and auxiliary mechanical equipment. Performs inspections, diagnostics, equipment overhauls, precision alignments, vibration analysis, and mechanical repairs to ensure maximum plant reliability and availability while adhering to OSHA, environmental, and plant safety standards.

Job Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment throughout the plant, including gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSGs, pumps, valves, compressors, heat exchangers, and other support equipment.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to keep plant equipment operating safely and reliably.
• Repair and rebuild pumps, valves, gearboxes, and other rotating equipment by replacing bearings, seals, gaskets, couplings, and other worn components.
• Inspect and maintain lubrication, cooling water, feedwater, condensate, and other mechanical systems to ensure proper operation.
• Perform equipment alignments using laser alignment tools and precision measuring instruments to reduce vibration and improve equipment performance.
• Troubleshoot mechanical problems, identify the cause of equipment failures, and complete repairs to minimize downtime.
• Support plant outages by assisting with turbine inspections, equipment overhauls, piping repairs, and major maintenance projects.
• Read blueprints, P&IDs, and equipment manuals to safely perform maintenance and repairs.
• Use cranes, hoists, rigging equipment, and hand and power tools to remove, install, and repair plant equipment.
• Follow all plant safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and hot work requirements, while documenting completed maintenance in the CMMS.

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED

Required Experience

• Journey level in the electrical trade
• Completion of a State Approved Apprenticeship Program
