NYS Seal of Biliteracy (NYSSB) Coordinator

The NYS Seal of Biliteracy (NYSSB) Coordinator leads, manages, and oversees the implementation of the New York State Seal of Biliteracy program across Eastchester High School. Operating in alignment with New York State Education Department (NYSED) guidelines and district objectives, the Coordinator ensures all eligible student candidates are identified, advised, and supported throughout the multi-step pathway to demonstrate high proficiency in English and one or more World Languages. Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To Prepare and submit required annual NYSED notification forms, including the NYSSB School Notification Form (by December 1) and the End-of-Year Data Form. Maintain accurate, audit-ready record-keeping of candidate criteria, point-tracking matrices, and student subgroup data. Upload final graduation data and candidate completion lists to SIRS and NYSED in a timely manner. Canvass, identify, and recruit eligible student candidates across all target subgroups (World Language students, English Language Learners, Former ELLs, and Heritage/Home Language speakers). Facilitate student informational sessions and provide ongoing individual advising to guide candidates through earning required points in English and World Languages. Recruit, organize, and train qualified multi-member evaluation panels to review student project proposals, research papers, and assess oral presentations against ACTFL/NYSED rubrics. Oversee student submission and review of project proposals, research papers, reflective journals, artifacts, and digital portfolios. Coordinate mentor pairings for candidates pursuing non-AP culminating projects, monitoring progress and ensuring completion deadlines are met. Order official state diploma seal stickers, graduation medallions, and certificates for successful candidates.
