Job Details:

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our growing Accounting and Finance team. This is a newly created position resulting from significant company growth and continued expansion through acquisitions. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with the Controller, take ownership of key accounting responsibilities, and help strengthen financial reporting and accounting processes as the organization continues to scale. The ideal candidate will bring a strong hands-on experience with month-end close and financial reporting, and the ability to navigate multiple accounting systems. We're especially interested in candidates who enjoy improving processes, leveraging technology, and working in a growing organization where they can make a meaningful impact. Responsibilities:

• Play a key role in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, helping improve efficiency and reduce close timelines.
• Prepare and review journal entries, bank reconciliations, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Assist in preparing and analyzing financial statements to ensure accuracy, completeness, and GAAP compliance.
• Prepare financial schedules and perform variance analysis, identifying and explaining significant fluctuations.
• Support percentage-of-completion accounting, including project revenue recognition and cost tracking.
• Assist with labor and project cost reporting to provide greater visibility into financial performance.
• Support the annual audit by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
• Work across multiple accounting and operational systems to extract, reconcile, and analyze financial data.
• Partner with the Controller to identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and improve reporting efficiency.
• Assist with accounting integration and special projects as the organization continues to grow through acquisitions.
• Explore opportunities to leverage technology, automation, and AI to improve accounting workflows.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Ideally 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, general ledger accounting, and month-end close procedures.
• Hands-on experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports.
• Strong analytical skills with experience performing variance analysis and identifying accounting discrepancies.
• Proficiency with accounting software and the ability to work effectively across multiple systems.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP, or similar functions.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with accounting, finance, and operational teams.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is a plus.
• Public accounting experience is a plus.
• Experience with percentage-of-completion accounting, revenue recognition, and project or labor cost tracking is a plus.
• Background in construction, service, or other project-based industries is a plus.
• Experience with accounting process improvements, automation, or AI-driven efficiencies is highly desirable.
