Chief Risk Officer

Enrichment Federal Credit Union is seeking a strategic, operationally minded Chief Risk Officer (CRO) to serve as a key member of the executive leadership team. Reporting directly to the CEO, the CRO will provide enterprise leadership across risk management, compliance, operational risk, organizational resilience, and other critical areas that support the credit union's long‑term performance and responsible growth.

This opportunity calls for an executive who brings more than traditional risk and compliance expertise. The successful candidate will understand how a credit union operates across the enterprise and will be comfortable working at the intersection of risk, operations, strategy, people, technology, and execution. Experience leading or working closely with broad financial institution operations would be highly valuable. The CRO should bring a strong operational perspective, with the ability to assess how to strengthen processes, systems, organizational structure, controls, and resources to mitigate risk, improve execution, enhance efficiency, and support an exceptional member experience.

The Opportunity

As Enrichment Federal Credit Union continues to evolve, the CRO will help strengthen the infrastructure, discipline, and operational resilience necessary to support sustainable growth. This executive will serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO, Board, and executive leadership team while maintaining appropriate independence as the organization's enterprise risk leader.

The CRO will balance strategic risk oversight with a practical understanding of day-to‑day operations. This leader will work across functional areas to identify organizational vulnerabilities, improve processes and controls, strengthen accountability, and ensure risk considerations are incorporated into business decisions without creating unnecessary barriers to innovation, efficiency, or member service.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and continuously strengthen the credit union's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework, risk appetite, governance structure, enterprise risk assessments, KRIs, and executive/Board reporting.
• Bring an enterprise operational perspective to executive discussions, helping identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, organizational effectiveness, scalability, and resilience.
• Partner with operational and functional leaders to evaluate workflows, processes, systems, and controls, identifying areas where operational risk can be reduced while improving efficiency and execution.
• Lead enterprise operational risk management, including identification of process vulnerabilities, control gaps, emerging risks, and appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Provide leadership and oversight for compliance, BSA/AML/OFAC, fraud risk, third‑party/vendor risk, business continuity, disaster recovery, and enterprise resilience.
• Oversee Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery governance and testing, ensuring the organization is prepared to maintain critical operations and respond effectively to disruption.
• Provide independent oversight of cybersecurity and information technology risk, partnering closely with technology leadership on incident response, controls, resilience, and emerging threats.
• Provide independent oversight and perspective related to interest rate, liquidity, credit, strategic, and reputational risk, ensuring material exposures are understood and appropriately addressed.
• Develop, coach, and lead a high‑performing team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and prudent risk‑taking.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be a well‑rounded financial services executive with strong risk‑management credentials and meaningful exposure to the operational side of a financial institution. Credit union experience is strongly preferred.

This individual may have developed their career through risk, compliance, operations, lending, finance, technology, or a combination of functional areas. More important than following one particular career path is the ability to understand how the entire organization works, recognize the interdependencies between functions, and translate risk insight into practical business solutions.

The ideal candidate will bring:

• 10+ years of progressively responsible leadership experience within credit unions or financial institutions, with senior‑level credit union experience strongly preferred.
• Significant knowledge of enterprise risk management, regulatory compliance, BSA/AML, operational risk, credit risk, fraud, cybersecurity/IT risk, and ALM/IRR.
• Broad operational knowledge of financial institutions and an understanding of how functions such as member service, lending, deposit operations, technology, finance, vendor management, and back‑office operations intersect.
• Experience improving processes, controls, business continuity, organizational resilience, and operational effectiveness.
• Demonstrated ability to move between strategic thinking and operational execution—seeing the enterprise‑level implications of an issue while also understanding what must happen practically to resolve it.
• Experience working with NCUA examinations, audits, regulators, executive teams, and Boards.
• Strong judgment and the confidence to appropriately challenge assumptions while remaining a collaborative business partner.
• Ability to distinguish between risks that must be avoided, risks that can be mitigated, and risks the organization can thoughtfully accept in pursuit of its strategic objectives.
• A leadership approach that builds credibility across the organization and positions risk management as an enabler of sound decision‑making and sustainable growth, rather than simply a control function.
• Bachelor's degree in finance, business, risk management, or a related field; advanced education and relevant professional certifications are valued.

Compensation: $175,000–$200,000, depending on experience, and additional executive incentives.
