About the Job-

As a Project Manager in Baton Rouge, you will be responsible for managing commercial construction projects from initial scope development and estimating through construction, closeout, and client turnover . Because much of our work is delivered through Job Order Contracting , this role requires a Project Manager who can successfully manage multiple projects and priorities at different stages of the construction lifecycle. You'll partner closely with Superintendents, subcontractors, clients, design professionals, and internal teams to keep projects moving while maintaining control of scope, schedule, cost, quality, safety, and client expectations

Just as importantly, you'll play an active role in developing Jamail & Smith's presence in Louisiana by building strong relationships with clients and local trade partners and representing our company in the Baton Rouge market.

What You Will Do-

• Manage multiple JOC and commercial construction projects from initial scope development through final completion and closeout
• Partner with clients to understand project needs, site conditions, operational constraints, budgets, and schedules
• Perform site walks and assist with developing project scopes, proposals, estimates, and execution plans
• Develop and manage project budgets, cost forecasts, schedules, procurement activities, and project documentation
• Solicit, evaluate, and coordinate subcontractor and supplier proposals
• Build and maintain relationships with Louisiana subcontractors, vendors, and trade partners
• Coordinate closely with Superintendents to plan manpower, logistics, sequencing, material deliveries, and field execution
• Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, subcontract agreements, and other project documentation
• Maintain accurate project financials and proactively identify potential cost or schedule impacts
• Lead project meetings and maintain clear, proactive communication with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams
• Manage projects within occupied K-12, higher education, government, and municipal facilities , coordinating work to minimize disruption to ongoing operations
• Ensure projects meet contract requirements, quality standards, safety expectations, and applicable codes and regulations
• Proactively identify project risks and develop solutions before they impact schedule, cost, or client satisfaction
• Drive punch-list completion, project closeout, turnover documentation, and final financial reconciliation
• Maintain accurate and timely project information within Procore and company systems
• Develop strong client relationships that support repeat business and long-term partnerships
• Represent Jamail & Smith professionally as we continue establishing and growing our presence throughout Louisiana

What You Bring to the Table-

• 3+ years of commercial construction Project Management experience preferred
• Experience managing projects from preconstruction or scope development through construction and closeout
• Experience with Job Order Contracting (JOC), IDIQ, task-order, on-call, or other fast-paced public-sector construction delivery methods strongly preferred
• Experience in K-12, higher education, government, municipal, and/or other public-sector construction preferred
• Experience working in occupied or active facilities is highly valued
• Strong understanding of construction estimating, scheduling, cost control, subcontractor management, procurement, and project documentation
• Ability to successfully manage multiple concurrent projects and competing priorities
• Strong financial awareness with the ability to manage budgets, forecasts, change management, and project profitability
• Strong communication, negotiation, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to develop productive relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders
• Proficiency with construction management technology; Procore experience preferred
• Knowledge of the Baton Rouge and/or Louisiana construction market is a plus
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent commercial construction experience will also be considered
