We are seeking dedicated Special Education Teachers for contract positions to work directly with students in-person. There are immediate openings for two educators to join our 6th-12th grade resource program, focusing on functional life skills, community-based instruction, and academic support. In addition, we are searching for a teacher to oversee the 7th-grade special education caseload, guiding students through their unique educational journeys.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Valid Special Education Teacher certification for the state of Michigan
• Experience working with middle and high school students, ideally in a resource or life skills program
• Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
• Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, support staff, and families
• Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills
• Passion for fostering independence and community participation in students with diverse needs

Responsibilities:

• Develop and adapt lesson plans for students with varying learning abilities, emphasizing life skills, social development, and academic achievement
• Provide direct instruction and support in both individual and group settings
• Regularly assess student progress and confer with colleagues, administration, and families to adjust educational plans as needed
• Prepare IEP documentation and attend meetings to ensure compliance and advocate for student needs
• Engage students in community-based instruction and foster skills important for success beyond the classroom
• Build positive, supportive relationships that empower students to reach their fullest potential
