Job Details

Job Summary:

The Gate Inspector will inspect each and every tank that leaves the facility for defects, damages, placards, and making sure the correct tank is leaving the facility.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Checking tanks as they are transported into and out of the facility to ensure that all defects and damages are noted for liability purposes.

• Ensure that the correct tanks are leaving the facility for transport, and to serve as a last quality control check prior to transport to the customer.

• Conduct walk-around inspections of tanks as they leave the facility to determine any defects or damages after the tank is delivered to the customer.

• Compares the tank numbers on customer work orders to the actual tank numbers to ensure that the correct tank is being delivered.

• Acts as the last step in the quality control process and will handle other duties as assigned.

• Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

• High school diploma or GED
• Strong attention to detail to have the ability to perform high-quality inspections to note defects & damages
• Experience in the trucking and/or intermodal transportation industry
• Basic computer knowledge (G-Suite knowledge preferred)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Skills and Abilities:

• 2+ years Google Suite Experience
• Strong organizational skills
• 3+ years Microsoft Office experience
• Possess strong verbal and written communication skills

• None

Additional Job Information

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

• This is a full-time position, and days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. These hours are subject to change as business needs. 

Travel: 

• Travel for training as required.

• This position may require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping or crouching. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds. Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment in all conditions. 

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
