Paralegal – Legal Affairs (Onsite Role)

A large nonprofit organization operating thousands of residential units across New York seeks a Paralegal to support its Legal Affairs team. This role focuses on managing legal workflows, tracking compliance obligations, coordinating with internal departments and outside counsel, and supporting landlord–tenant matters within New York State and New York City courts. The position requires full‑time onsite presence.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for vendor contracts, verifying entity details and ensuring accuracy
\n
• Review contracts to identify required provisions, including insurance terms, termination language, and penalty clauses
\n
• Coordinate with building staff, legal team members, and external landlord–tenant counsel
\n
• Maintain organized electronic document systems following departmental standards
\n
• Track contract deadlines, obligations, renewals, and related requirements using designated databases
\n
• Assist senior staff with monitoring vendor performance and resolving contract issues
\n
• Support insurance claim follow‑up, including tracking tasks, correspondence, timelines, and preparing related reports
\n
• Schedule and track risk‑inspection site visits, document recommendations, and monitor follow‑up actions
\n
• Assist with legal matters such as new lawsuit notifications, subpoena responses, document requests, and discovery tasks
\n
• Conduct legal and operational research, including reviewing policies for compliance and supporting planning for new initiatives
\n
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

\n

\n
• Bachelor’s degree or ABA‑approved paralegal certificate
\n
• Minimum 3 years of paralegal experience in real estate, landlord–tenant, housing law, legal services, or property management
\n
• Strong knowledge of New York State landlord–tenant law and NYC court procedures
\n
• Familiarity with supportive housing, homeless services, or similar environments preferred
\n
• Proficiency with document management systems, databases, and standard business software
\n
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
\n
• Strong organizational and time‑management abilities with independent follow‑up skills
\n
• High attention to detail and ability to interpret complex information
\n
• Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with internal teams and external partners
\n

Compensation

\n

\n
• Salary: $85,000 annually
\n
