Program Coordinator

The YMCA of the East Bay is looking for a Youth & Government Program Coordinator to help grow and lead our Youth & Government program across the East Bay. Based in: Berkeley, CA + travel throughout the East Bay Status: Full-Time, Exempt | Monday–Friday Start Date: Immediate Do you believe teens should have a seat at the table and develop the skills and confidence to speak up once they’re there? Our Youth & Government program gives middle and high school students the opportunity to learn democracy by doing it. We are looking for a leader who can help take this work to the next level. Youth and Government Mission We provide middle and high school students with an experiential leadership learning and development program by modeling United Nations and California’s legislature and courts. Our Y&G prides itself in providing quality educational and civic engagement programming that offer our student “delegates” with the following skills to help them transition and succeed with ease from high school through college graduation: Public speaking Research and writing skills Core values and teamwork Critical thinking skills As Youth & Government Program Coordinator, you will work with the Executive Director to keep multiple delegations thriving by recruiting the youth who fill them and developing the advisors who guide them. Your responsibilities will include: Recruiting, training, and supervising the volunteer advisors who make Youth & Government run Recruiting and enrolling youth participants across multiple delegations Planning and executing Youth & Government program activities from start to finish Setting program objectives, then reviewing, evaluating, and refining them as needs evolve Helping build training curriculum that prepares Y&G volunteers to lead well Actively engaging every teen participant in the Teen Center Maintaining accurate records for all Youth & Government participants Supporting the development and management of the Y&G program budget Nurturing consistent, positive relationships with YMCA collaborative partners and connecting youth to leveraged services Attending trainings that sharpen your own professional growth Taking part in YMCA events and activities while upholding the YMCA Core Values Stepping into other duties as assigned Your Qualifications: 3 or more years of experience with youth development and programming 2 or more years of experience in staff/volunteer and program management Ability to clear DOJ/FBI background checks CPR, First Aid, and AED certification within 30 days of hire (Provided at no cost to you.) Ability to travel to sites and meetings consistently (reliable transportation) Proficiency in computer and database programs necessary to perform the duties of the job (Google Drive, AirTable, Zoom, etc) Ideally, you know how to do the following...
