Position Overview

We are seeking a Registered Nurse for the Mother-Baby unit. This position involves working night shifts from 19:00 to 07:30. The ideal candidate will have 2 years of experience and will be responsible for providing high-quality care to mothers and their newborns.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate and comprehensive nursing care to mothers and newborns.
• Perform assessments and monitor vital signs for both mother and baby.
• Educate new parents on infant care, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Support couplet care and ensure patient satisfaction.
• Maintain accurate medical records using Epic charting system.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient care solutions.
• Participate in patient education and discharge planning.

Shift and Patient Ratios

This position requires a commitment to a block schedule, with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 during shifts.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with a valid state license (Compact license preferred).
• Must have at least 2 years of nursing experience in a Mother-Baby or similar unit.
• Current certifications required: BLS, NRP.
• Experience with a high patient ratio of 4 is preferred.
• Must be proficient in using the Epic charting system.

Work Environment

This position is located in an acute care hospital known for its commitment to high-quality healthcare services. The facility is well-equipped with 426 staffed beds and offers free parking to staff members.

Additional Information

• Daily patient census: 28 patients.
• Support from multidisciplinary teams is readily available, including IV teams, respiratory services, and social services.
• Orientation hours for new staff: 24 hours.

Compliance and Expectations

The ideal candidate must be flexible and willing to float between similar units as needed. Additionally, travelers may be expected to work 3 of the 5 major holidays during their contract period.
