Learn more at The Opportunity Greenwich House's Older Adult Network is seeking a Kitchen Aide to provide support and assistance across four Manhattan-based Older Adult Centers. The Kitchen Aide is expected to uphold high standards of sanitation, provide courteous assistance to members, and work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to support daily operations and a welcoming environment. The Kitchen Aide supports daily food service operations by assisting with meal service, and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment. This role ensures compliance with all health, safety, and organizational guidelines. Responsibilities The Kitchen Aide is responsible for ensuring that Center members receive their meals in a timely, respectful, and efficient manner, while maintaining order, cleanliness, and safety in the kitchen and dining areas. This role supports all aspects of meal service, including preparation, distribution, and cleanup, and helps ensure compliance with all applicable food service and program guidelines. In addition, the Kitchen Aide assists with the setup and breakdown of Center programs and activities, including arranging tables, chairs, and equipment as needed. The role also includes maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment throughout all areas of the Center, not limited to the kitchen and dining space. Primary Duties:
Schedule: 20 hours/week, Schedule to be determined, must be available 7 days a week including Sunday, 11am-3pm

Union Representation: Non-Union Salary Range The expected base salary/hourly rate for this position is $25,159.85 or $24.19 an hour. This range reflects the anticipated compensation at the time of this posting and may be adjusted based on experience, education, and organizational needs. - Partner with center director to monitor and ensure compliance with NYC Department for the Aging regulatory standards and NYC Board of Health regulations as they relate to food service and building environment.
- Prepare, handle, and serve meals.
- Receive Food, take temperatures upon arrival and when serving.
- Maintain facility cleanliness and readiness.
- Clean and store all utensils, dishes, and other food service equipment.
- Wash, sanitize and set up the dining room area after lunch.
- Maintain order and cleanliness in the kitchen and dining room.
- Sweep and mop dining room, kitchen, and Center spaces.
- Set up and take down the dining room and program rooms.
- Disinfect and clean dining room table and chairs.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and required training as necessary.
- Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned by Center Director or designee or Director of Senior Services.
- Performs other duties and services as needed.
- Must have completed the Board of Health (BOH) Food Preparation Course or be able to complete within first 3 months of employment.
- Must be able to perform physical labor, lift up to 50 lbs. and spend a significant portion of the shift on their feet.
- Able to learn basic tasks and to understand written and oral communications. Able to work effectively and patiently with seniors and volunteers
