Staff Accountant

Discovery Land Company is seeking a full‑time, year‑round Staff Accountant to support the Corporate Accounting team. The role is based in Scottsdale, Arizona. Responsibilities Assist with the monthly, quarterly and annual close process, including journal entry preparation and account reconciliations. Record daily cash activity, including bank transactions, receipts and disbursements, ensuring accurate and timely entries in the general ledger. Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner. Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including invoice processing, payment runs and aging report review. Prepare and analyze financial reports and variance analyses for management review. Assist with fixed asset tracking, depreciation schedules and capitalization policy compliance. Support internal and external audit requests by preparing schedules and gathering supporting documentation. Help maintain and improve internal controls and accounting policies and procedures. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (FP&A, operations, legal) to ensure accurate financial reporting. Assist with ad‑hoc projects and analysis as directed by senior accounting leadership. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (required). 1–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment. Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP) and experience with ERP systems such as Sage Intacct, NetSuite or SAP. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment. CPA candidate or active pursuit of CPA licensure (preferred). Experience with multi‑entity or intercompany accounting (preferred). Exposure to financial statement preparation (preferred). Benefits Competitive pay.
