RN Med Surg

The Registered Nurse (Med/Surg) provides comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Medical/Surgical unit, ensuring assessment, prioritization, and delivery of patient-centered care. This role includes administering medications and treatments, monitoring patient conditions, documenting care accurately in the electronic health record, educating patients and families, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to support continuity of care and prevent readmissions. The position requires a minimum of 5 years of Med/Surg or Emergency Room experience, proficiency with Cerner EHR, and current certifications including BLS, ACLS, and PALS. Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, care planning, nursing interventions, and ongoing reassessments.
• Administer medications, IV therapy, oxygen, blood products, and other treatments accurately and timely.
• Operate infusion pumps and document all care activities in Cerner electronic health record.
• Monitor patients for changes in condition and promptly report abnormal findings to providers.
• Provide patient and family education regarding disease processes, treatments, medications, pain management, wound care, discharge planning, and follow-up care.
• Use Care Compass for organizing and documenting assessments, care tasks, procedures, and patient education.
• Demonstrate knowledge of cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation and respond appropriately.
• Follow infection prevention protocols, universal precautions, and National Patient Safety Goals.
• Maintain patient confidentiality, dignity, and privacy at all times.
• Collaborate with providers, nursing staff, and other departments to facilitate interdisciplinary care.
• Serve as a mentor to nursing staff and support continuous learning initiatives.

• Minimum 5 years of Medical/Surgical or Emergency Room nursing experience.
• Previous traveler nursing experience.
• Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse program.
• Current Colorado or Compact RN license.
• Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Proficient in Cerner electronic health record system.
• Basic computer skills.

• Experience with Care Compass documentation tool.
• Cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation expertise.

• Work performed in a hospital environment with exposure to blood, bodily fluids, communicable diseases, radiation, chemicals, and potential physical and verbal abuse.
• Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, and assisting with patient movement.
• Compliance with infection prevention standards and patient safety protocols is mandatory.

• Day shift schedule from 06:15 to 18:45.
• Three 12-hour shifts per week totaling 36 hours.
