For more information on what we are about as a company, check us out by following the link below: Job Summary We are seeking a skilled, energetic, and team-oriented cook to join our culinary team at the George R. Brown Convention Center. This position is responsible for preparing high-quality food for conventions, trade shows, banquets, and special events in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate thrives under pressure, maintains exceptional food quality standards, and works effectively as part of a large culinary team. Key Responsibilities Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and presentation standards. Execute large-scale food production for banquets, concessions, and catered events. Maintain consistency, quality, and portion control during peak service periods. Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations. Properly store, label, and rotate food products following FIFO guidelines. Assist with prep work, inventory management, and station setup/breakdown. Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. Maintain a clean and organized workstation at all times. Collaborate with chefs and team members to ensure timely event execution. Adapt quickly to changing event schedules and operational needs. Qualifications Previous experience as a cook in high-volume food service, hotel, banquet, convention center, stadium, or restaurant environment preferred. Culinary certification preferred and required to obtain food handlers certification. Knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen equipment, and food safety standards. Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds. Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Food Handler Certification required or ability to obtain upon hire. Abides by all Company policies and procedures including but not limited to: The use of a medium weight cut gloves when handling or using knives, peelers, choppers, mandolins or cleaning a slicer. The use of oven mitts, fryer gloves or steamer gloves when handling hot pans from ovens, warmers or steamtables. The use of slip-resistant shoes and proper lifting techniques.
