VC Manager @ FusionX Ventures in San Diego, CA

This role is an opportunity to work with a visionary and fun group of partners who are all experienced company-builders. As head of Fund Operations for FusionX Ventures, you will work with investors, partners, and portfolio companies to support financings, modeling, reporting, and overall operations of the Funds and SPV investment entities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Investing (30%) Oversee investment operations, from initial due diligence to closing. Serve as primary liaison for all internal and external stakeholders (e.g., due diligence, legal, accounting, etc.) for investment transactions. Maintain thorough documentation throughout the investment process. Set up and manage SPVs, including investment memos, term sheets, and closing. Post-investment: Ongoing portfolio data maintenance & analysis, including pro forma financials, cap table modeling, ownership analysis, & waterfall modeling. Finance, Administrative, & Investor Relations (35%) Oversee Fund operations, procedures, and metrics. Manage ongoing investor inquiries and requests, communicating with HNW individuals, Family Offices, Fund of Funds, global corporations, etc. Coordinate and process Fund and investor-related legal documents, including LPAs, LLC agreements, subscription agreements, transfer agreements, side letters, etc. Participate in weekly partner meetings focused on portfolio company stewardship. Oversee and improve fundraising processes. Cash planning and budgeting for the Funds and Management Co entities. Oversee 3rd party fund administrator for accounts payable, Fund financials, entity management, capital calls, tax filings, K‑1s, and other investor relations activities. Coordinate with external teams to ensure regulatory compliance. Manage relationships and collaborate with all 3rd party service providers including fund administration, tax accountants, legal counsel, auditors, etc. Reporting (20%) Track quarterly KPIs and financials for portfolio companies. Update Fund documents & spreadsheets after new financings. Responsible for quarterly and annual reporting to investors for the Fund and SPVs. Maintain spreadsheets for fund return scenario modeling. Business Operations (15%) Complete office/operations management. Manage 3rd party service providers to manage payroll and benefits. Manage & review employee and partner expense reports. Manage invoices & billing for service providers (rent, utilities, insurance, etc.). Key Requirements 5+ years’ experience working in client operations, finance, or investment-related role. Initiative-taker, curious and keen to learn. Detail oriented, organized, and analytical. Highly skilled with Excel and spreadsheet modeling. Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills. Proactive with people and communication. Experience overseeing sensitive and confidential information. Familiarity with financial statements. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Bachelor’s Degree. Preferred Experience working in a similar role (venture capital, private equity, real estate, wealth management, law firm, or other environment).
