Vice President, Finance Key Responsibilities Financial Planning & Analysis leadership: Own annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and long‑range financial planning; develop financial models to support program growth, funding scenarios, and operational decisions; establish KPIs and performance tracking frameworks across the organization. Strategic translation & decision support: Convert organizational strategy into actionable financial insights and trade‑offs; provide forward‑looking analysis on risks, opportunities, and resource allocation; support executive decision‑making with clear, data‑driven recommendations; frame financial implications of key initiatives, including full cost and opportunity cost. Change leadership & organizational transformation: Lead cross‑functional change initiatives that improve financial planning, performance, and decision‑making; drive adoption of new processes, systems, and ways of working across departments; apply a structured, project‑management‑oriented approach to implementation, establishing clear ownership, timelines, and success measures; champion equity‑aligned practices in how change is designed and implemented. Operational finance & accountability: Lead organization‑wide budgeting processes across departments; monitor financial performance, identifying variances and driving accountability; embed financial discipline into day‑to‑day decision‑making across teams. Systems & infrastructure leadership: Own financial planning systems, reporting tools, and performance dashboards; partner with the Controller on ERP optimization and data integrity; drive scalable finance processes that support growth and organizational complexity. Cross‑functional partnership: Serve as a trusted financial partner to program, operations, development, and executive teams; translate financial data into actionable insights for non‑finance leaders; ensure financial considerations are embedded early in organizational initiatives. Team leadership & development: Lead and develop the Controller and broader finance team; build strong accountability structures and performance expectations; actively cultivate an inclusive, high‑performing team culture where individuals feel valued, supported, and accountable for results. Candidate Profile A Strategic Finance Leader and Thought Partner Translates organizational strategy into clear financial plans with measurable outcomes; serves as a thought partner to leadership. Brings deep FP&A expertise in annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, financial modeling, and scenario analysis across complex funding environments including government grants, restricted funds, and earned revenue. Grounds problem‑solving in clear thinking: defines the real issue, names the risk of action and inaction, quantifies impact, and presents options with full costs including opportunity costs. Balances mission, compliance, and administrative responsibilities in designing financial solutions that are both rigorous and workable. A Change Leader and Organizational Implementer Has led cross‑functional change initiatives through co‑creation, actively engaging stakeholders to shape financial processes, systems, and ways of working that are practical, inclusive, and sustainable. Applies a structured, project‑management‑oriented approach to implementation while creating space for input, iteration and shared ownership. Builds alignment through early and ongoing engagement, surfacing perspectives, anticipating resistance, and incorporating feedback to strengthen solutions and ensure lasting adoption. Education and Experience 10+ years of progressive finance experience with a strong background in FP&A, financial modeling, and operational finance. Demonstrated experience leading budgeting and forecasting in a complex organization with multiple funding streams. Experience with ERP systems and financial planning tools; comfort driving system implementation and optimization. Nonprofit and grant funding experience strongly preferred; fluency in restricted fund accounting, federal grant compliance, and single audit requirements. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required; MBA or CPA preferred. Preferred Background Proven track record of building and sustaining high‑performing finance teams by setting a high bar for performance while cultivating an inclusive, supportive culture grounded in trust, clarity, and shared ownership. Experience partnering closely with a CFO and executive leadership team to drive financial strategy and organizational performance. Demonstrated success embedding financial accountability and discipline across a complex, multi‑department organization. Compensation and Benefits Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The salary range for this role is $150,000–$170,000 with a generous benefits package.
