Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport as prescribed. The role involves evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans while ensuring patient education upon discharge.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment and aerosol devices.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning using multiple techniques.
• Monitor patients via oximetry and capnography, and review chest x-rays for necessary evaluations.
• Execute 12-lead EKGs and recognize basic arrhythmias.
• Carry out pulmonary function studies according to standard policies.
• Assist in respiratory-related procedures, such as bronchoscopy and chest tube placements.
• Provide tracheostomy care, including tube insertion and removal.
• Perform arterial punctures and assess ventilation efficiency.
• Conduct routine maintenance and monitoring of mechanical ventilation equipment.
• Document treatment details and communicate with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding patient therapy.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current licensure as a Respiratory Therapist.
• Knowledge of BLS and ACLS guidelines for CPR.
• Experience with ventilatory equipment and respiratory care procedures.
