Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Correctional Duration: 10 weeks minimum Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year required License: Active nursing license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, MOAB (facility will provide) Must-Have: - Phlebotomy skills - Starting IVs - High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) - Non-invasive airway management Description: This position involves providing routine and emergency healthcare to patients within a correctional facility. The Registered Nurse will conduct health assessments and make necessary referrals to healthcare providers. Responsibilities include detoxification, dental, and mental health evaluations. The RN will be responsible for triaging and assessing new patients to the facility, including labs, vitals, history, and past diagnosis. Conducting detox rounds according to protocol is required. Urgent care and sick calls in the pods will also be responsibilities of this role. A MOAB certification is necessary. If the traveler does not already have the MOAB certification, a 4-hour de-escalation course will be provided during the first week. Failure to pass this course may result in contract cancellation. The facility has an approximate capacity of 1950 inmates, with a fluctuating average daily population. The RN must be able to sustain being on their feet for 80% of the shift. Candidates must not be located within a 100-mile radius of the facility. The RN must be able to pass a facility background check. Additional qualifications may be screened based on prior experience in emergency department or medical-surgical settings. Travel experience is a plus. Weekend coverage is required on a rotating basis. No locals are accepted within a 100-mile radius. RTO restrictions apply; no greater than 7 days without prior approval. Compliance documentation is required within the specified timeline prior to the start of the role. Travelers without MOAB certification must complete an in-person MOAB training during the orientation week to avoid contract termination. The role requires a strong ability to work in a correctional setting with an interdisciplinary support team. The position demands knowledge in various medical scenarios including substance withdrawal, trauma care, and wound management. The RN will work closely with other teams, such as rapid response and phlebotomy services. Please ensure that you meet all the specified requirements to be considered for this position.
