Position Overview
We are seeking a driven General Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our residential and commercial fence business while positioning the organization for continued strategic growth. This leader will own execution against the organizations vision; that is to significantly scale revenue, build a highly capable leadership and field organization, preserve the family legacy, and deliver on Acme's mission of creating peace of mind through beautiful, built-to-last fencing solutions.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Vision Execution
- Lead the execution of Acme Fence’s long-term vision, translating strategic goals into measurable annual, quarterly, and operational plans.
- Drive sustainable growth toward the organization’s long-range revenue and profitability objectives while maintaining the company’s commitment to quality, service, and family values.
- Champion and reinforce Acme’s mission of creating peace of mind through beautiful, built-to-last fencing and gates for homes, businesses, governments, and organizations.
- Serve as a steward of the Acme legacy, ensuring decisions honor the company’s history while positioning the business for future generations.
- Partner with ownership to evaluate strategic growth opportunities, including market expansion, acquisitions, and operational investments.
Operational Excellence
- Provide leadership for all aspects of residential and commercial operations, including sales, installation, production, customer service, safety, and administrative functions.
- Develop and implement scalable systems, processes, and performance metrics that support growth while maintaining exceptional customer experiences.
- Ensure operational execution aligns with Acme's reputation for professionalism, craftsmanship, and quality materials.
- Establish accountability through data-driven decision-making and clear performance expectations.
Team Development & Organizational Growth
- Build, develop, and retain a high-performing leadership team and workforce capable of supporting significant future growth.
- Lead organizational development efforts, including workforce planning, succession planning, leadership development, and recruiting initiatives.
- Create a culture that reflects Acme's core values of being Safe, Proud, Proactive, Collaborative, and Communicative.
- Foster employee engagement and accountability while maintaining a strong family-business culture.
Financial & Business Management
- Own company financial performance, including revenue growth, profitability, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Monitor key business metrics and implement corrective actions when necessary to achieve company goals.
- Ensure resources are effectively allocated to support growth, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction.
- Identify opportunities to improve margins, efficiency, and overall business performance.
Customer & Market Leadership
- Protect and strengthen Acme's position as a trusted industry leader serving residential and commercial customers throughout Northeast Ohio.
- Build and maintain key relationships with customers, partners, suppliers, community leaders, and industry stakeholders.
- Ensure every customer interaction reflects Acme's commitment to professionalism, responsiveness, and lasting peace of mind.
- Support sales and marketing initiatives that reinforce Acme's differentiators, including in-house installers, quality materials, and a reputation built since 1939.
Candidate Profile
Required Experience
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience, including significant responsibility for business operations, revenue growth, and team leadership.
- Proven experience leading a consumer-based construction, home services, manufacturing, distribution, or field-services organization.
- Demonstrated success scaling businesses, improving operational performance, and developing leaders.
- Experience implementing systems and processes in support of creating efficiencies and scalability.
- Experience managing P&L responsibility and driving profitable growth.
- Technically savvy, with a comfort using digital tools, full Microsoft Suite, project tracking software/CRM systems (we use GoHighLevel as our CRM/Microsoft Business Central for finance)
- Ability to work at a strategic level coupled with the willingness to do whatever it takes to make the team successful.
- Ability to work a 6:30am – 4:00pm schedule.
Preferred Experience
- Knowledge of fencing products or similar trades.
- Experience working with residential and commercial clients.
- Understanding of the building permitting process.
- Multi-location experience.
