About the Role This Sr. Human Resource Generalist role combines client relationship management, HR consulting, and hands-on generalist support. You'll serve as a trusted point of contact for assigned clients, meet regularly with business leaders to provide practical guidance, and help ensure their HR needs are handled effectively. This is a client-facing, hands-on role, not a purely strategic or back-office HR position. This position requires working onsite at client locations 1-2 days per week. We're looking for someone based in Ventura County or the surrounding area who can easily travel to client sites in and around Santa Barbara and Glendale, California. Candidates should be comfortable driving to client offices and adjusting their schedules to accommodate meetings and onsite support. This is a billable-hour-based role with a clear expectation for maintaining client-facing productivity. Full-time team members are expected to meet a set billable hours target per week. All time is tracked using our time tracking software, and hours are reviewed weekly to ensure consistent client delivery and balanced workload management. Internal development, team collaboration, and administrative tasks are also part of your work, but performance is ultimately measured by your ability to meet client needs and consistently deliver against our service standards. What You'll Do Client Relationship Management & HR Advisory Lead client meetings, check-ins, and planning discussions to understand business needs, review open items, and determine HR priorities. Provide practical, actionable HR advice that helps clients make informed decisions and address people-related challenges rather than simply respond to requests. Coach managers through employee relations matters, performance concerns, difficult conversations, and corrective action. Help clients interpret policies, apply HR best practices, and navigate workplace issues consistently and appropriately. Identify opportunities to improve the client experience and expand HR support when additional services would benefit the organization. Hands-On HR Generalist Support Manage day-to-day HR activities across areas such as employee relations, performance management, onboarding, offboarding, leave administration, policy interpretation, and employee communications. Support managers and employees through routine and moderately complex workplace issues. Help coordinate HR processes and projects, ensuring details are handled accurately and deadlines are met. What You Bring Experience and HR Knowledge At least 7 years of progressive HR experience, with broad exposure to multiple areas of human resources. (not office management, operations, or recruiting-only roles) Demonstrated experience advising managers and business leaders on employee relations, performance management, policies, and workplace issues and other HR complex needs. Must have extensive knowledge in California Leave Law administration. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain HR concepts clearly and confidently. Bilingual (Spanish) strongly preferred Client Management and Communication The ability to build credibility and strong working relationships with different personalities, leadership styles, and organizational cultures. A proactive approach to follow-through, communication, and managing client expectations and guiding conversations towards solutions. Comfort balancing client service with sound HR judgment, including respectfully pushing back when a requested approach creates unnecessary risk or isn't in the client's best interest. Strong organization and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple client relationships without losing sight of the details.
