The Authorization Specialist is a part-time, contracted position. The Authorization Specialist is responsible for submitting and tracking authorization requests for Outpatient Therapeutic services such as community support services, case management services, and outpatient therapy services provided by level four practitioners. The Authorization Specialist must have in depth knowledge of prior certification requirements for AmeriGroup, Peach State, and traditional Medicaid insurances.

** Duties **

• Complete authorization request forms and submit request to the utilization department of the associated insurance payer
• Track the authorization status from submission to approval
• Resolve discrepancies and/or errors with authorization requests promptly
• Contact Clinical Supervisor and clinical team in reference to any needed information to support approval of requested authorization
• Maintain an accurate log of request submission dates, approval dates, and expiration dates

** Requirements **

• Master's Degree in the Behavioral Health field (Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or Human Services).
• Experience in the Behavioral Health field (Counseling, Psychology, Social Work and/or Human Services).
• Experience working with AmeriGroup, WellCare, Peach State and traditional Medicaid
