Technical Executive for Optoelectronics

Overview Samtec, Inc. is a privately held, $950 million global manufacturer of electronic interconnect solutions, founded in 1976. We operate 40+ international locations and serve more than 125 countries. We are looking for a Technical Executive for Optoelectronics to lead our optical transceiver product group. The preferred location is the Silicon Valley Design Center in Santa Clara, CA, with a secondary option in San Diego/Vista, CA. Salary range is $300 K–$400 K per year, plus bonus. Responsibilities Collaborate with company owner and heads of engineering, operations, sales, and product line management. Own engineering for the product group and participate in the leadership team. Lead people, technology, and product development across all optics disciplines. Implement technology and product roadmaps with the optics business leadership. Assign functional roles and project responsibilities to staff. Continuously grow scalable leadership across the product group. Improve product‑development and introduction life‑cycle methods. Qualifications Optical communications product technology expert: expert in at least one core competence, adjacent in others. Product development master: several cycles from concept to revenue, system‑engineering expert, integration across electrical, RF‑optics, optical, mechanical, thermal, firmware, validation, reliability, qualification, manufacturing processes. Top‑notch critical thinker and problem solver. Excellent people manager and team builder for high‑degree collaboration. PhD + 7 years or MS + 9 years or BS + 10 years in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering. Success managing medium‑to‑large teams comprising multiple engineering disciplines. Experience with optoelectronic products, preferably high‑speed optical communication transceivers, LIDAR modules, or similar. Experience on a cross‑functional leadership team for R&D, engineering, manufacturing, or product line management.
