Miller Ophthalmology Associates in Whippany, NJ is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Surgery Coordinator to join our team! In this vital role, you'll be the key link between patients, surgeons, and medical facilities — ensuring every surgical experience runs smoothly from start to finish. Responsibilities:

Schedule and coordinate ophthalmic surgical procedures

Serve as the primary point of contact for patients throughout the pre-operative and post-operative process

Obtain prior authorizations and verify insurance eligibility for surgical procedures

Communicate with surgical facilities, hospitals, and ASCs to confirm scheduling and patient requirements

Prepare and manage surgical paperwork, consent forms, and patient records with accuracy

Educate patients on surgical preparation instructions and answer procedural questions

Collaborate closely with ophthalmologists, clinical staff, and billing teams to ensure seamless care coordination

Requirements:

Prior experience in a medical office, surgical coordination, or ophthalmology setting preferred

Familiarity with insurance authorization processes and medical billing terminology

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple schedules simultaneously

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient-facing interactions

Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical scheduling software

High level of attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment
