Electronic Automation PLC Technician

Job Summary

We are seeking an Electronic Automation PLC Technician for a direct hire opportunity in a manufacturing environment in Cayey, PR. This role is ideal for a hands-on industrial electronics and automation professional who enjoys troubleshooting equipment, improving system performance, and supporting reliable production operations.

The Electronic Automation PLC Technician will work closely with maintenance, production, and engineering teams to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve automated systems, including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, control panels, and related electrical equipment. Key Responsibilities

- Install, test, maintain, and troubleshoot electronic equipment and automated systems, including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and control panels.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, electronic, and automation systems to support production uptime.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and control system documentation.
- Program, modify, and debug PLCs and other automation controls to improve equipment performance and reliability.
- Support equipment upgrades, system modifications, new installations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and documentation while following safety standards and procedures.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot PLC-based automation systems and industrial electronic equipment.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on control systems, sensors, panels, and electrical components.
- Support PLC programming, debugging, equipment upgrades, and automation improvement projects.
- Collaborate with maintenance, production, and engineering teams to resolve technical issues and improve reliability.

- Associate degree or technical certification in Electronics, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in industrial electronics, automation, or a related manufacturing maintenance role.
- Knowledge of PLC programming, such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, control systems, industrial automation, and troubleshooting practices.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical drawings, and technical manuals.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with diagnostic tools and automation software.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work with tools and small components.
- Strong analytical, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Availability to work shifts, weekends, or on-call as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with robotic systems and industrial automation technologies.
- Knowledge of SCADA systems and HMI configuration.
- Familiarity with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial production environment.
