Shipping Lead

Position Summary The Shipping Lead oversees daily shipping operations in a fast‑paced aerospace and defense manufacturing environment. This role leads the shipping team, coordinates shipment priorities, and ensures all shipments are processed accurately, on time, and in compliance with customer and regulatory requirements. The Shipping Lead owns department processes, supports continuous improvement efforts, and works closely with Production Control, Quality, Operations, and Procurement to meet customer delivery expectations. Responsibilities Lead and support daily activities of Shipping Clerks and shipping personnel. Coordinate shipment priorities to meet customer delivery requirements and operational needs. Own and maintain shipping processes and workflow standards to ensure consistency and efficiency. Train and support team members on shipping procedures, packaging requirements, ERP transactions, and customer expectations. Hold team accountable for accuracy, organization, and adherence to company procedures. Ensure domestic and international shipments meet customer, quality, and export compliance requirements. Review packing slips, certifications, labels, and shipping documentation for accuracy. Coordinate parcel, freight, LTL, and expedited shipments. Work closely with Production Control, Quality, and Operations to resolve shipment issues and prioritize critical deliveries. Support inventory accuracy, cycle counts, and physical inventory activities. Identify and support process improvements within shipping operations. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized shipping area. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. 5+ years of shipping, warehouse, or logistics experience in manufacturing preferred. Aerospace and defense industry experience strongly preferred. Prior leadership or team lead experience preferred. Experience using ERP systems such as Infor CloudSuite Industrial (SyteLine) preferred. Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Due to ITAR requirements, must be U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident. Must be able to work 40+ hours per week in a high‑demand, quality environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and good problem‑solving abilities. Preferred Skills Knowledge of ITAR and aerospace shipping requirements. Strong attention to detail and accountability mindset. Experience supporting process improvement initiatives. Physical Requirements Ability to lift 20+ pounds on a regular basis. Requires standing, bending, stooping, squatting, lifting, reaching, sitting, and fine hand/finger manipulation for up to 8 hours per day.
